inZOI’s fashion suite is a standout collection of customizable streetwear, offering a wide range of accessories. I could easily choose a cute top or skirt and tweak its length and color using a full-spectrum palette, allowing me to recreate iconic fashion looks like McBling and Indie Sleaze without hassle. The wardrobe is impressively large, thoroughly modern, and mostly gender-neutral. “When designing the game, we sought assistance from fashion brands and designers,” says Kim. “We collaborated with a clothing designer who has worked with many Korean singers and K-pop artists, and with their input, we were able to create our own unique style,” they concluded.
However, there’s a notable downside: inZOI’s integration of Generative AI. While players can upload their own custom designs or explore the various built-in settings, there’s an additional feature where users can type in random text to generate a synthetic digital pattern. Although it reflects current tech trends, it feels like it undermines the potential of what is otherwise a truly engaging character creator. Encouraging players to showcase their unique creativity, design talents, and cultural influences would foster a richer inZOI community, rather than allowing AI to churn out lackluster designs that shortcut the creative process.
